J.C. Flowers-Backed Accelerated Wealth Partners Expands RIA Footprint with Pallas Capital Deal

Accelerated Wealth Partners (AWP), the New York-based investment firm backed by private equity powerhouse J.C. Flowers & Co., has announced a definitive agreement to invest in Pallas Capital Advisors, a prominent Massachusetts-domiciled registered investment advisor (RIA). This transaction marks the latest strategic move in AWP’s aggressive expansion into the independent wealth management sector, highlighting the firm’s commitment to backing fast-growing, high-end advisory practices.

Pallas Capital Advisors, which manages approximately $5 billion in assets, serves a sophisticated client base comprised primarily of corporate executives, business owners, and their families. While the specific financial terms of the deal and the precise size of AWP’s equity stake remain undisclosed, the partnership is structured to foster long-term continuity by significantly broadening the ownership base of the Massachusetts firm.

Under the terms of the agreement, which is expected to close later this year subject to standard closing conditions, Pallas will transition equity to five of its next-generation leaders: Joe Cullen, James Landry, Eric Lalime, Andrew Krout, and Athol Cochrane. By bringing these professionals into the ownership ranks, Pallas is effectively cementing its succession planning and ensuring that the firm’s future is intrinsically linked to the performance and vision of its rising leadership team.

Empowering Growth Through Continuity

Pallas Capital Advisors was founded in 2019 by industry veterans Rich Mullen, Greg Boyle, and Charlie Evangelakos. The trio established the firm after spending decades honing their expertise at some of the world’s largest and most established financial institutions. Despite the new partnership with AWP, the founders will retain their leadership positions, ensuring that the firm maintains its distinct brand identity, corporate culture, and client-centric service model.

For AWP, the role in this transaction is that of a strategic growth partner. The New York firm intends to provide Pallas with significant growth capital, alongside access to specialized M&A resources and organic growth strategies. This partnership model is designed to provide the support of institutional capital without compromising the agility or autonomy of the RIA.

"We have known and trusted the AWP team for years, and when we decided to bring in a partner, there was never any question about who it would be," said Rich Mullen, founding partner and CEO of Pallas. "Our ambition is to be the national leader in ultra-high-net-worth wealth management, and our planning capability is what sets us apart. This partnership gives us the resources to pursue that ambition with real conviction while staying true to who we are."

An Ultra-High-Net-Worth Planning Play

The value proposition of Pallas Capital lies in its specialized approach to complex financial management. The firm integrates tax, trust, estate, and financial planning for clients who navigate complicated balance sheets. Pallas’ expertise is particularly focused on managing the unique challenges faced by ultra-high-net-worth individuals, including concentrated stock positions, liquidity events, business transitions, and the intricate, multi-generational transfer of wealth.

Headquartered in Braintree, Massachusetts, Pallas has established a footprint that extends across the region, with additional offices in Wakefield, Massachusetts, as well as in Rhode Island and New Jersey. Eric Amar, the founder of AWP and a former chief growth officer at Focus Financial Partners, believes that the firm is well-positioned to compete at the very top of the national market.

"Rich, Greg, and Charlie have built something rare: a firm that pairs the planning depth of a top-tier private bank with the agility and personal attention of an independent advisor," Amar noted. "Their clients are executives and entrepreneurs with some of the most complex financial lives in the country, and Pallas delivers for them every day."

Accelerated Wealth Partners’ 2026 Deal Run

The deal with Pallas is the latest in a series of strategic maneuvers for AWP, which is supported by a $200 million capital commitment from J.C. Flowers & Co. Since its inception, AWP has positioned itself as an M&A execution specialist and a growth engine for independent firms. The firm’s strategy consistently prioritizes deals that allow founders to maintain operational control while preserving the original branding of the RIA.

The current year has been particularly busy for AWP, which has executed several key transactions that have landed it on industry leaderboards as one of the most active minority investors in the RIA space. In March, AWP announced a strategic investment in RIA Advisors, a Houston-based wealth manager led by partners Connie Mack, Lance Roberts, Richard Rosso, and Danny Ratliff. That partnership was aimed at scaling the firm as a premier destination for high-net-worth families in Texas, with an emphasis on expanding tax, trust, and estate planning services.

Following that, in May, AWP acquired a strategic minority stake in Brooklyn Fi. Founded by Ally Jane "AJ" Ayers and Shane Mason, Brooklyn Fi has carved out a niche serving tech employees, entrepreneurs, and creatives who require guidance on complex financial matters such as IPOs, tender offers, secondary markets, and equity compensation. With a fully remote platform, Brooklyn Fi serves more than 500 households nationwide.

The rapid pace of these deals has placed AWP in the company of major industry players such as Elevation Point, Emigrant Partners, and Merchant Investment Management on various performance trackers, including those compiled by Fidelity regarding active minority investors during the first half of 2026.

As AWP continues to scale its operations, it has placed a premium on recruiting top-tier talent with deep experience in the RIA sector. This focus on expertise is central to the firm’s philosophy, as Amar recently emphasized when discussing the importance of building a team that shares the values of the founders they invest in. By prioritizing firms that possess strong, next-generation leadership—such as the newly minted equity partners at Pallas—AWP is attempting to build a sustainable, long-term ecosystem of independent wealth managers capable of navigating an increasingly complex financial landscape.

For Pallas Capital, the road ahead involves leveraging AWP’s institutional resources to broaden its reach while continuing to provide the high-touch, personalized service that has defined its reputation. As the wealth management industry continues to consolidate, the partnership serves as a testament to the ongoing demand for sophisticated planning services that cater to the unique needs of business owners and corporate executives on a national scale.
