Daytona Platforms Enters Unicorn Club With $60M Series B to Build the "Agent Cloud"

New York-based startup Daytona Platforms has officially secured its unicorn status, announcing on Friday that it has closed a massive $60 million Series B funding round at a $1 billion valuation. The latest financing, which brings the company’s total capital raised to $91 million since its founding three years ago, was led by FirstMark Growth.

FirstMark’s continued confidence in the infrastructure provider comes on the heels of its previous backing, having also led Daytona’s $24 million Series A round back in February. However, the newly announced Series B stands out not just for its impressive size and the milestone valuation it confers upon the young company, but also for the heavy-hitting roster of angel investors and corporate venture arms it managed to attract.

The round drew participation from an elite group of technology leaders and founders, including Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison, Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, Zoom founder and CEO Eric Yuan, Datadog co-founder Olivier Pomel, Quora CEO and OpenAI board member Adam D’Angelo, and Mercor co-founder Brendan Foody. In addition to these prominent individual investors, the company secured institutional backing from Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next, and Okta Ventures, signaling broad industry validation for Daytona’s core technological vision.

At its core, Daytona is addressing a fundamental infrastructure gap that has emerged alongside the rapid evolution and deployment of artificial intelligence. While traditional cloud computing services have long powered the web and enterprise software of the past several decades, the startup contends that these legacy architectures are entirely unequipped to handle the unique demands of modern AI systems, particularly autonomous, long-running agents.

In a blog post published alongside the funding announcement, Daytona founder Ivan Burazin elaborated on the architectural mismatch between yesterday’s cloud infrastructure and tomorrow’s AI workloads. "Agents don’t work like the long-lived services today’s cloud was designed for," Burazin wrote. He explained that instead of predictable, steady-state servers running continuous applications, modern AI agents spin up thousands of short, highly stateful jobs that traditional systems never planned or provisioned for in advance. Because of this, the industry desperately needs a cloud built specifically for that dynamic reality.

To solve this problem, Daytona is building what it calls an "agent cloud." The platform is designed to function as if every individual agent is being handed its own dedicated computer. Within this specialized ecosystem, agents are granted access to fully sandboxed environments spanning multiple operating systems—including Linux, Windows, and macOS—as well as specialized hardware like GPUs, all consolidated onto a single, cohesive platform.

This multi-faceted capability allows developers and enterprises to deploy autonomous agents with the assurance that they have the computational isolation, resources, and operating environment flexibility required to execute complex, multi-step tasks without crashing traditional server infrastructure or introducing severe security vulnerabilities.

With $60 million in fresh capital and a newly minted $1 billion valuation, Daytona is well-positioned to scale its operations, expand its engineering talent, and accelerate the development of its agent-centric infrastructure. As businesses increasingly pivot toward deploying autonomous software agents capable of executing sophisticated workflows independently, platforms like Daytona are aiming to become the foundational plumbing that makes the next era of artificial intelligence possible.
