Zug-Based Fintech Safirum Launches Swiss Franc Stablecoin CHF-S on Solana
Zug-based fintech startup Safirum has officially launched its Swiss franc-backed stablecoin, known as CHF-S, on the high-performance Solana blockchain. First announced to the broader financial and technology markets in June 2026, the newly deployed digital asset is designed to cater to both retail participants and institutional market players, marking a notable step forward for the integration of traditional fiat currencies with decentralized ledger technology within the Swiss regulatory framework.
Each CHF-S token is backed one-to-one by the Swiss franc, ensuring that the total circulating supply maintains a direct and secure peg to the national currency. To secure the underlying collateral, Safirum has established segregated accounts with established financial institutions, specifically Berner Kantonalbank (BEKB) and Banque Richelieu. Furthermore, the fintech company has outlined strategic plans to onboard additional custodian banks in the near future to further diversify its reserve holdings and enhance institutional confidence.
The mechanism for issuing and acquiring the stablecoin is structured to accommodate the distinct compliance requirements of different user segments. For institutional investors looking to mint new CHF-S tokens, the process requires passing rigorous compliance checks followed by a direct transfer of the equivalent fiat funds to the designated reserve accounts. Meanwhile, retail users can gain access to CHF-S through a network of integrated partners or via decentralized exchanges, provided they have completed the necessary preliminary steps to whitelist their digital wallets.

Strict adherence to regulatory standards sits at the core of Safirum’s operational model. In order to comply comprehensively with Swiss rules—most notably FINMA Guidance 06/2024 concerning payment products and blockchain-based assets—every individual or corporate entity seeking to utilize the stablecoin must first undergo a mandatory identity verification process. Individual users are required to complete standard know-your-customer (KYC) procedures, while corporate participants must fulfill know-your-business (KYB) verification requirements.
Once these checks are successfully completed, the smart contract governing the stablecoin automatically whitelists each verified wallet address. As a direct result of this technological implementation, the smart contract is programmed to block any attempted transfers to unverified wallets, thereby creating a closed-loop compliance environment designed to mitigate illicit financial risks and satisfy domestic regulatory mandates.
Safirum selected the advanced Solana Token-2022 standard as the foundational architecture for CHF-S, citing the blockchain network’s high throughput, impressive scalability, and exceptionally low transaction costs as critical factors for modern financial applications. The company envisions a wide range of prospective use cases for the stablecoin, including cross-border business payments, efficient corporate treasury management, settlement processes for cryptocurrency exchanges, and the facilitation of payments for tokenized assets.
In a departure from the revenue models traditionally favored by many stablecoin issuers—which typically rely heavily on generating yield from the underlying reserve assets—Safirum’s economic structure centers primarily on transaction fees. Every transfer executed on the network incurs a fee equivalent to 0.05% of the transferred amount, subject to a maximum cap of 0.50 CHF-S per transaction, in addition to standard underlying blockchain network fees.

Maverix Securities, a firm that has collaborated closely with Safirum from the earliest stages of the project’s development, became the inaugural entity to successfully mint CHF-S. Commenting on the milestone, Giuliano Glocker, Founder and Co-CEO at Maverix Securities, emphasized the strategic importance of the launch for the firm’s ongoing operations and client offerings. He noted that the introduction of the stablecoin lays a robust foundation for the development of innovative applications, particularly for their clients and the sophisticated management of digital assets within their actively managed certificates (AMCs).
Echoing these sentiments regarding the integration of compliance and blockchain technology, Bastien Thiébaud, Co-founder and CEO at Safirum, addressed the balance between regulatory oversight and user adoption. He stated that the company does not view identity verification and wallet whitelisting as burdensome obstacles to adoption, but rather as essential and indispensable prerequisites for achieving the widespread, mainstream utility and acceptance of stablecoins in the professional financial sector.
