After Twitter Blue, Meta has disclosed its premium subscription for users to get verified. Paid users can have their profile verified by providing a government ID. In addition to profile verification, the subscription bundle for Instagram and Facebook offers additional protection against impersonation.
The subscription starts for $11.99 per month on the Web and $14.99 per month on iOS platforms. This week, the service will be made available in Australia and New Zealand for the first time.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote in his Instagram’s Meta Channel, “Good morning! New product announcement: this week we’re starting to roll out Meta Verified a — subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support. This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services.
Meta Verified starts at $11.99 / month on web or $14.99 / month on iOS. We’ll be rolling out in Australia and New Zealand this week and more countries soon.”
Twitter already has a checkmark system, which costs $8 on the web and $11 on iOS.
