Taiwan’s biggest chipmaker TSMC will open a new design center in Munich, Germany in late 2025. The company announced this plan at their technology meeting this week.

The Munich center will help European companies create better computer chips for cars, factories, artificial intelligence, and smart devices. TSMC wants to make chips that are smaller, faster, and use less energy.

This is part of TSMC’s bigger plan to grow in Europe. The company is already building a chip factory in Dresden, Germany with partners Infineon, NXP, and Robert Bosch. These German companies each own 10% of the new factory project.

TSMC’s European expansion helps bring advanced chip technology closer to European customers who need these parts for their products.
