President Trump’s government is collecting personal information about every American citizen. They hired a data company called Palantir, owned by billionaire Peter Thiel, to help create this huge database.
Government Agencies Sharing Your Personal Data
In March, Trump signed an order telling all government departments to share their data with each other. This means information from different agencies like the IRS, Social Security, Medicare, and others can now be combined in one place.
The government has been very secretive about this project, which worries many people. Palantir has already received over $113 million from the government since Trump became president. Last week, they got another $795 million contract with the Department of Defense.
Palantir’s special computer program called “Foundry” is already being used by Homeland Security, Health Services, and other agencies. This tool helps organize and study all the collected data.
Privacy Concerns and Legal Battles
This data collection started under Elon Musk’s government efficiency program. The government wanted personal information from many agencies including tax records, Social Security numbers, military registration, and Medicare details.
Privacy groups, student organizations, and worker unions have filed lawsuits to stop this data collection. They worry that Trump could use this information to target his critics or go after immigrants.
Both Peter Thiel and Elon Musk have close ties to Trump’s administration. Musk even plans to use his AI system called “Grok” to analyze government data. This gives these tech billionaires unprecedented access to Americans’ personal information.
